The overall objective of the AirMON project is to strengthen cross-border cooperation in addressing air pollution challenges through the establishment of a comprehensive and harmonized air quality monitoring system.

The specific objectives are:

• To improve the availability, quality, and comparability of air pollution data in the cross-border region of South Banat and Timiș County;
• To introduce advanced and integrated monitoring methodologies combining real-time measurements and laboratory analyses;
• To enhance the capacities of public authorities and relevant institutions in environmental monitoring and data-driven decision-making;
• To increase awareness and knowledge among key stakeholders and the wider public regarding air pollution sources, risks, and mitigation measures.

Project Results

The AirMON project will generate tangible and measurable results that contribute to improved environmental management and policy development in the cross-border area.

Key expected results include:

• A comprehensive pilot study providing detailed insights into the types, concentrations, and sources of air pollutants across the region;
• Operational cross-border monitoring systems, ensuring continuous, reliable, and harmonized air quality data collection;
• A comprehensive dataset covering a wide spectrum of pollutants, including those not previously monitored in the programme area;
• Strengthened institutional cooperation between partners and relevant stakeholders in Serbia and Romania;
• Improved knowledge base to support evidence-based environmental policies and strategic planning.

The AirMON project places strong emphasis on raising awareness and ensuring effective dissemination of results. Key activities include the organization of workshops and seminars, engagement with relevant stakeholders, and the promotion of project findings through digital channels and communication materials. These efforts aim to enhance understanding of air pollution challenges and support informed environmental action.
